Job Title: Librarian - Reference and Outreach
Job Summary/Basic Function:

Reports to the Director of Library & Learning Services; work schedule will include two evenings a week; fosters positive relations with faculty, students, and staff and promotes the College’s and Library’s commitment to student success; leads the development of outreach efforts to engage the student community; maintains a collegial working relationship with other departments, offices, and divisions; independently spearheads services while maintaining close coordination with library team; works reference desk assisting patrons with questions and checking out materials; assists patrons with accessing and using electronic and print resources; develops bibliographies for instructional staff; issues photo ID cards; reviews book review journals and advertisements to select materials to add to library collections; conducts and keeps record of all library tours, seminars and workshops; provides outreach to faculty, students and high school librarians; conducts story time with the Children’s Center; maintains library’s social media presence; seeks ways to engage students and support their learning and research activities by collaborating with student-centered groups on campus; fosters a sense of belonging and inclusion, collaborating with diverse student organizations and services and participating in outreach programs across campus; works inventory and other seasonal duties; keeps circulation and reference desk statistics for monthly and annual reports; supports student success initiatives for the department; performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $4,947 - $5,259 monthly ($28.60 - $30.34 hourly); excellent benefits;

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of a Master’s of Library Science Degree (or equivalent), with it highly desirable that the degree is from an American Library Association accredited college/university; strong commitment to public service, ability to make competent decisions, remain organized, and meet deadlines; has aptitude for thinking creatively and developing products and services, such as training materials and workshops; demonstrated knowledge of trends, methods, and best practices in undergraduate student success and engagement; passion for mentoring and teaching a diverse student population; vision for expanding programs and other initiatives; should be enthusiastic, have a positive attitude, and complete their job duties in an upbeat and cooperative manner; strong communication skills (oral and written), including strong human relations skills; demonstrated ability to provide user-centered services for diverse populations reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite; other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one’s value to the institution.
